The Blayney v Bathurst Team Matches began as a solution to giving players from both clubs different opponents compared to their usual agendas. They are played at roughly six week intervals and began with matches on 4 boards and at the last round, it was a 9 board match. Rules are fairly elementary; Game in 60 minutes, Home team has White on odd numbered boards, recording of moves isn't mandatory. These may need further refining to satisfy the purists, but it is allowing people to play chess, enjoy a cuppa and a chat, so they are good enough for the bush. Tied matches are resolved by removing the lowest board/s until a result is determined.
