Blayney Chess Club 2007 NSW Country Reserve Team Champions   

Blayney Chess Club is pleased to present chess enthusiasts with the following opportunity that may never occur again. We offer all chess lovers the opportunity to enjoy an afternoons instruction and play against a Grandmaster not once, but twice. That is right; Grandmasters Dejan Antic and Ian Rogers are both coming to the Blayney Bowling Club to offer instruction and playing exhibitions. Dejan Antic’s visit will be on November 18^th, and a month later when you have absorbed all the knowledge that he has imparted, you can come back and enjoy an afternoon of chess magic with Ian Rogers.

Grandmaster Dejan Antic will conduct a lecture and simultaneous exhibition at Blayney Bowling Club on 18th November 2007 commencing at 12:00 pm.

Following this, Dejan Antic will play 25 opponents simultaneously. This is both an impressive display of a Grandmaster’s chess skill, and a unique opportunity for chess mortals to play a Grandmaster with increased chances of winning. Though it rarely happens, it is definitely fun trying, and anyone lucky enough to pull off that rare defeat of the Grandmaster will enjoy the rapture it brings.

Then on December 16^th, Grandmaster Ian Rogers (pictured playing in the 2007 Doeberl Cup, which he won) comes to town to entertain and instruct. This is a rare opportunity to spend time with Australia’s Nr 1 player for at least the last quarter century before his retirement from competitive chess for health reasons. Ian has won tournaments the world over and is held in high regard as a commentator and analyst by all and sundry. He will give a lecture that will enthral and delight those present, then play a blindfold simul against three celebrity players, then take on 25 participants in a simultaneous exhibition. Grandmaster Rogers will present book prizes to any player good enough to gain a draw or win in this simultaneous exhibition.

All this can be yours for the inexpensive outlay of $50, a very reasonable price to have two GM’s instruct and play against you. Many of the older brigade among the chess fraternity would have given their eye teeth, or more important body parts, to have had a similar opportunity in their early days of learning this great game that is chess. Note, that to gain the benefit of both afternoons for the low price of $50.00; you will need to be registered for the first one. Those wishing to take in only one of these days can attend either day for $30.00. It cannot be emphasised enough, that two of only four chess Grandmasters in Australia are coming to Blayney. Any chess enthusiast that doesn’t take this opportunity to meet, learn from, and play against these chess greats will undoubtedly regret not doing so.
